Manics Top 50s - 31st July 2013

Another two chart day today, although one only just, having been concluded about quarter past midnight!!  I know it's pretty much impossible to have even an average chart, but two excellent top 50s again!!  We're around halfway through time-wise now and there seem to be as many top 50s in the pipeline as when I first floated the idea, so keep them coming, nothing but positive comments from contributors so far!!  You know it's going well when you click on a Manics follower and it says "Followed by blah blah blah and 60-odd others!!".  Great to see everyone finding everyone else through these charts!!!!

Manics Top 50s - 30th July 2013

After a day off we have two more charts which were announced on the 30th July.  The more entries we get for the overall chart, the more reliable the results will be, and we're certainly seeing some familiar faces turn up in a lot of the charts!  I'm not looking at the totals deliberately as I don't want to know, but it's impossible to ignore the popularity of some songs which just appear again and again in the higher reaches of people's charts.

For those people who have been involved right from the start it seems as though it's getting to that time when the charts are ready and everyone is feeling that it's time to just let go and free themselves from the torture of juggling Manics songs in their head on the way to work, in the supermarket, in the bath etc!  So expect a few more charts over the next week or so!!

Give me your ideas (@Pyfbrown) for how you think the results should be communicated too.  Obviously the top 50 will be on here as well as the complete rundown (including zero vote songs!), but I'm also thinking separate charts for B-sides, a total-score-per-album chart and individual charts per album will also keep us interested well after the main chart has been scrutinised.  Geeky?  Yeah, of course!

Manics Top 50s - 28th July 2013

A bumper day for top 50s today, including my own selection!  Why is yours first, you ask?! Come on, perks of the job!! :)  Loads of variety in all today's charts, those of you keeping an eye on the album tracks with no votes will be pleased to see there are only 3 remaining now!!!  And I have to say, looking at the chart by era, Lenchik's is one of the most evenly spread so far!

Personally I've picked up a few new Twitter followers too, so it's possible we have a few new charts in the pipeline.  Still just over a month to get them in!  And before I get my life back.....joke, I love it really, keep 'em coming!!

Manics Top 50s - 26th July 2013

The Manics Top 50s are starting to get going again and another fantastic chart here, this one seems to be coming from a similar direction to mine with a lot of shared choices (mine will be up on the blog by the end of this weekend!).  Also another few more of those no vote songs getting some love!

I floated the idea on Twitter yesterday that once the final chart is published I will ask the contributor(s) that ranked each song the highest in their chart to write a sentence or two on that song.  Willing participants obviously!!!  This will flesh out the fans' chart with memories and thoughts from the people who feel the most for each song.  So everyone will get the chance to comment on their number 1, but probably quite a few others too!!! I will tweet people nearer the time to give you your songs and ask if you're willing to contribute to that part.  If not I will offer the song(s) to the person who voted next highest etc.  It will be published a few weeks after the overall chart to allow everyone to get their contributions in.

Manics Top 50s - 22nd July 2013

After a short commercial break the Manics Top 50s are back to coincide with the airing of new material!!!  Anyone who feels the need to include 'Show Me The Wonder' is perfectly entitled to, I know it wasn't available to people who have already submitted but seems a bit over the top to exclude it on that basis.  Just the one chart today but another cracker!  I am now getting close to finishing my own chart, so maybe tentatively look at this weekend for my big countdown?  Keep 'em coming!!

Manics Top 50s - 16th July 2013

Another day with only one top 50 (although actually was from yesterday but I missed it!) but again it's a great one.  Another cracking top 10 with the mix of timeless classics and those B-sides we all have wildly differing degrees of fondness for!  It's what makes it fun!  Also, an interesting little dip in the middle period, with no songs from 3 of the albums managing to push their way in.  Still not sure how my chart is going to do in that respect!  If you're just joining us, there's still plenty of time if you're tempted to do a chart of your own so feel free to join in!

Manics Top 50s - 14th July 2013

Another three top 50s from 14th July (why do they mostly come in threes?!).  More excellent choices and yet more songs making their first appearance in the vote.  Interestingly, a lower showing for both 'Know Your Enemy' and 'Lifeblood' today, but we just pick our favourites and that's how the charts come out!  Another interesting stat - only two songs have been in every single chart so far!  Still loads of time if you haven't yet compiled your own!
